Mats Horbach originally went to the Technology University of Eindhoven to study industrial design, but soon realised that the creative element was missing. A year later he successfully applied to join the Design Academy in the same city. He was able to release his sense of creativity and grew to become a designer with a strong poetic feel.
Horbach believes steadfastly in the power of imagination. Anyone able to see the beauty in a hopeless situation has the power to improve it. Certainly in these times of economic crisis and war the designer sees imagination as a tool for survival. Mats was selected for Toegepast 18.
