Kato Herbots is a designer from Velm, a sub-municipality of Sint-Truiden. She works at the intersection of design research and product design.

In January 2026 she won bronze in the Design Research category at the Henry van de Velde Awards 2026. Her awarded project, Residents of Solar Space, pairs a solar blanket with a UV-transparent PLA jumper — woven around a single idea: that the wearer literally lets sunlight through.
