Based on the foundations of a former coalmine, C-mine is more than just an industrial heritage site. It is a creative hub that initiates and operates around four cornerstones: creative economy, creative recreation, artistic creation, and presentation and education. Design as such is visible and present in several forms at C-mine: with a higher education – LUCA School of arts – specialised in various artistic graduation subjects, such as product design and photography. An incubator for young entrepreneurs as well as established organisations and companies that have their home base at C-mine (e.g. Studio Pieter Stockmans). C-mine also houses a design centre, where designer and design collectives are able to show their work.
