Ado Hamelryck studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He is an honorary professor of Audiovisual and Visual Arts at the KHLim (Genk). In 1975 Ado started an extremely patient type of writing consisting of filling immense sheets of paper, books, or wooden supports. Writing has been reduced to a repetitive movement, to writing away: “the senseless”. In Ado Hamelryck’s work, black is all over.
