Karolien Bertels has always worked in journalism, first as a freelance designer for various magazines of the Roularta group, afterwards in the editorial office of Trends. She was a chef design at Knack Weekend and has been the art director of De Standaard Magazine since 2008. Karolien was laureate of the 1st edition of Toegepast.
