FORM – over 25 years of design in Limburg – moves to the Netherlands

The exhibition FORM, covering 25 years of design in Limburg, which was developed in 2016 by C-mine design centre together with Cultuurplatform Design, will open on 25 March in Het Cuypershuis in the Dutch city of Roermond.

Just like FORM in C-mine, Het Cuypershuis will  present a taste of (Belgian) Limburg design from the past 25 years, including the graduation work of Raf Simons, the porcelain of Piet Stockmans and the Mobile School of Arnaud Raskin. Together with all exhibition objects and films, the hardcover publication We Are Wanderful by Cultuurplatform Design (Province of Limburg) will also be included for visitors who want to browse through the region’s recent design history.

The Cuypershuis is an urban museum located in the former residence and workshop of Pierre Cuypers (1827 – 1921), the well-known architect and designer from Roermond. In addition to the permanent expo, the museum also shows various temporary exhibitions for both young and old. Het Cuypershuis wants to offer a varied experience around different themes like interior, innovation, design and craft.”

In Het Cuypershuis we bring modern interior design to the attention, mostly Dutch design,” says curator Jeannine Hövelings. “But it is also good to show what happens elsewhere. Belgian Limburg is only a stone’s throw away from Roermond and yet we had no idea of the design talent in that region. With the exhibition of FORM and We Are Wanderful we will hopefully change that. “The exhibition was tailor-made for the C-mine design center, but from the start, the possibilities to easily set up and dismantle the exhibition was taken into account. However some fittings for specific rooms in Het Cuypershuis needed to be adapted. And so, the producer, scenographer Rayah Wauters, the graphic designer Pablo Hannon, … received new across-border assignments.
